A German player should easily over run France as the greatest excitement for playing Germany is a prolonged battle on the Eastern Front. When there is an ai for Germany and France, then the German ai has to win the campaign for France with out getting bogged down so that the game can progress. The difficulty that the dev's have in balancing out this aspect of the war is the strategic goals as laid out by the French high command in defending France, the breakdown in trust between the British and the French, and the failure of the French to contain the German motorized forces in Northern France. France failed to have a contingency plan in case of a German successful breakthrough and she had committed here motorized forces to fighting in Belgium. Allied divisions were order to counter attack, but no concerted effort was made. There was disunity between the British and French high command when German motorized forces broke through the French lines and occupied northern France.
Both Germany and the Allies had approximately equal numbers of divisions and equipment, both sides fielded modern and obsolete equipment, Germany made better use of radios and as a result German officers where able to operate at the front (not so for the French), French units were capable of winning battles at the tactical level when France took the initiative, but German units easily overran second line French units or units that where poorly prepared.
